Whether it be local or overseas, restaurants or at home, surimi-based products were gaining in popularity.To satisfy their daughters’ craving for imported kamaboko, Hualing Foods’ founders, Lin Rongji and his wife,were inspired to make kamaboko by themselves. This way they could make kamaboko that was not only delicious,

but hygienic and nutritious also – a long held principle that remains at the core of our business
today. Thus, the husband and wife duotraveled from Taiwan to Japan to learn the traditional
Japanese way of producing kamaboko and other surimi-based products. Using what they
learnt, our founders built their own factory in Qidu, Keelung City in 1979 and have been
producing traditional kamaboko and surimi-based products as well as innovations of
their own ever since.
